HCC Employee Goes the Extra Mile

Harrison Contracting Company has a lot of excellent employees and many of them have been with us for years. Alfredo Estrada is one of those people that delivers on his job commitments regardless of what is going on in his personal life.

Recently, Alfredo received glowing kudos for a job he did at Palm Harbor Recreational Center in Palm Harbor, FL.  It was an exterior repaint and during that job he had to drive back and forth between the hospital where his first child was being born, and and the jobsite in Palm Harbor directing his crew.

According to our customer, Alfredo did an awesome job. He has over 10 years of painting experience and has been with Harrison Contracting for 3 of those years as a foreman.

The photo at right shows Alfredo in his HCC uniform, along with his wife Kristin and son Maurcio

Harris County High School Wins Free Paint & Pizza Education Day Party

HARRISON CONTRACTING COMPANY – VILLA RICA, GEORGIA

Harris County High School
Recently, Harrison Contracting Company had the opportunity to serve a group of high school students at Harris County High School located in Hamilton, GA.  Earlier this year, at the 2018 CEFGA Skills USA Expo (Construction Education Foundation of Georgia), Harrison Contracting held a drawing for a free Paint & Pizza education day party including a free hand-held wireless Graco paint sprayer for their school to keep.

James Steele’s class at Harris County HS were the winners of the party and on September 21, 2018, Calvin Pate – VP, Eugene Dent – Project Manager, and Cliff Warnock – Field Superintendent of Harrison Contracting Company showed up at Mr. Steele’s class on the Tiger campus to talk about the paint contracting industry.  With more than 60 years of collective experience in the painting and construction industry, Pate, Dent, and Warnock helped the students understand career opportunities that exist in paint contracting.

Additionally, the Harrison team led hands-on painting of a small building on campus with the black and gold school team colors just in time for their Homecoming event the same evening. The sprayer was left with Mr. Steele for additional hands-on education with future students. Special thanks to Harrison Contracting partner, Sherwin Williams, for donating the Graco handheld sprayer.  Harrison Contracting is proud to be a part of continuing education in the paint contracting industry and helping today’s youth become tomorrow’s leaders! Go Tigers!

Grand opening?

On May 17, 2018, the exclusive, multi-million dollar Marquee Club and Rooftop Lounge opened its doors revealing its incredible detail and exotic décor to dazzled guests. The construction teams were required to plan and execute the new design without disrupting the existing structure, and worked around daily events at The Fox Theatre.

The Fox, it continues to be a success story, booking more than 325 nights a year, regularly ranking among the top grossing theaters in the world. It is a rare example of a non-profit making money and operating in the black for 30 years.

Young Leadership Program Golf Classic

This is an event that HCC sponsors and participate in every year; we have players golfing and we also have a benefit tent. This year at our tent we played 'Drink-Hole' for $5 each to raise additional money for the YLP. We ended up raising almost $500 and everyone had a BLAST! Not to brag, but we think that we had THE MOST POPULAR tent on both courses!

AGC Georgia's Young Leadership Program hit a hole in one and Harrison Contracting was pleased to have been part of this worthy event!  The 2018 YLP Golf Classic netted more than $84,000. All funds will be deposited into the YLP Charitable Works Fund within the AGC Georgia Foundation.

Disaster Recovery

Hurricanes, Flooding, Winds and more...

A few short weeks ago few businesses in America’s south were thinking about disaster recovery, but then the weather changed.

Hurricane Harvey decimated parts of Texas and southwest Louisiana when it hit the region a couple weeks ago, destroying billions of dollars’ worth of property. Not to be outdone, Hurricane Irma, possibly the strongest hurricane this country has ever seen was 400 miles wide.  It had winds over 185 miles-per-hour for 37 hours, which is also a record, and it spawned the largest evacuation in United States history.

Now that these storms are behind us, one catastrophe modeling company, estimates that Harvey has caused between $25 billion and $35 billion in losses that will be covered by insurance. The total economic damage, which includes uninsured losses, could be between $70 billion and $90 billion.  Enki Research, said the Irma situation "looks pretty grim." They estimated that Irma could cause $172 billion in total U.S. damage.

We have no way of knowing when a natural or human-caused disaster will hit or the damage it will do. The best thing we can do is to have a plan in place and know who to call in the event of an emergency. Harrison Contracting Company has been the trusted ‘go-to’ company since 1995.

New Construction Project

Harrison Contracting Company recently completed a new construction project in Milton, which is north of Atlanta in Fulton County. We completed the painting, wallcovering, and fabric panel scope of work on the new city hall.

The new Milton City Hall is being called the “workplace of the future,” it is a modern, high-tech building that connects with the community. "The municipal facility brims with reclaimed-looking wood accents, bold pendants, lofty ceilings, barn doors, sleek glass walls, and an exterior that looks less staid, granite-heavy city hall of yore and more gargantuan urban farmhouse." Read more from the story on Curbed Atlanta.

For your next painting project, whether it be new construction or re-imaging of an existing facility, contact us and learn how we can help you.  Since 1995 we have provided quality Painting and Facility Maintenance for clients across the USA.
