Disaster Recovery

Hurricanes, Flooding, Winds and more...

A few short weeks ago few businesses in America’s south were thinking about disaster recovery, but then the weather changed.

Hurricane Harvey decimated parts of Texas and southwest Louisiana when it hit the region a couple weeks ago, destroying billions of dollars’ worth of property. Not to be outdone, Hurricane Irma, possibly the strongest hurricane this country has ever seen was 400 miles wide.  It had winds over 185 miles-per-hour for 37 hours, which is also a record, and it spawned the largest evacuation in United States history.

Now that these storms are behind us, one catastrophe modeling company, estimates that Harvey has caused between $25 billion and $35 billion in losses that will be covered by insurance. The total economic damage, which includes uninsured losses, could be between $70 billion and $90 billion.  Enki Research, said the Irma situation "looks pretty grim." They estimated that Irma could cause $172 billion in total U.S. damage.

We have no way of knowing when a natural or human-caused disaster will hit or the damage it will do. The best thing we can do is to have a plan in place and know who to call in the event of an emergency. Harrison Contracting Company has been the trusted ‘go-to’ company since 1995.

New Construction Project

Harrison Contracting Company recently completed a new construction project in Milton, which is north of Atlanta in Fulton County. We completed the painting, wallcovering, and fabric panel scope of work on the new city hall.

The new Milton City Hall is being called the “workplace of the future,” it is a modern, high-tech building that connects with the community. "The municipal facility brims with reclaimed-looking wood accents, bold pendants, lofty ceilings, barn doors, sleek glass walls, and an exterior that looks less staid, granite-heavy city hall of yore and more gargantuan urban farmhouse." Read more from the story on Curbed Atlanta.

For your next painting project, whether it be new construction or re-imaging of an existing facility, contact us and learn how we can help you.  Since 1995 we have provided quality Painting and Facility Maintenance for clients across the USA.

HCC is in Tampa Florida

Tampa or “Cigar City” is famous for a number of things, not the least of which is its geographic proximity to some of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the US. Its temperate climate and world renowned beaches have made it a mecca for tourists, native Floridians, transplants, and businesses alike. Of the 20 fastest growing areas in terms of new jobs, commerce and industry… 5 of them are within a 2.5 hour drive from the Tampa Metro area, and the 6th (Panama City, FL - #19 on the list) just happens to be serviced by HCC’s Destin Division, making Harrison uniquely situated to capitalize on the booming growth being experienced in various parts of the Sunshine State.

Harrison Contracting opened its Tampa Division in September of 2015 with an eye towards doing just this, while continuing to strengthen current partnerships with long time customers, as well as build new ones with the next generation of the Harrison family of clients.

Harrison Contracting Company Tampa Office

A full 1/3 of Florida’s population resides within a 2 hour drive from the Tampa metro area, and combined with neighboring Pinellas County, (which is home to the cities of Clearwater & St. Petersburg) Tampa is quickly becoming a force to reckon with nationally in terms of development, employment, commerce, and overall GDP. This as Florida has knocked New York out of the #3 spot nationally as the 3rd most populous state in the US.

Tampa is also home to the largest Port (by tonnage) in the State of Florida, (the 11th largest in the nation), and has seen a significant increase in new businesses of all types, including construction and development. In addition, Tampa International Airport has been recognized as the 3rd best/most efficient airport in the US, and it ranks 5th in the world based on consumer and Airport Industry surveys and accolades.

Combined with its proximity to Orlando, (the home of Walt Disney World Florida as well as a multitude of both national and international companies) Harrison’s Tampa Division will be uniquely suited to build on its already considerable reputation for providing nationally renowned commercial painting and facility maintenance services for Property Management Firms, General Contractors and New Construction, Industrial Facilities, National Accounts and Direct to Owner projects all over the State.

We are proud to be starting this new chapter in our company’s story, and to continue cultivating the same culture of quality, customer service, value and subsequent success we have enjoyed over the last 21+ years.

Press Release: Safety Day 2017

Each year, Harrison Contracting Co. brings the team together for a day of safety training and certification. This year, we had over 150 in attendance with a variety of volunteer instructors and vendor partners to help us keep our teams safe and up to date with the latest in equipment, PPE, fire safety, and safe driving.

A main focus for HCC has been the zero tolerance policy for employee distracted driving. We were lucky enough to have Sgt. Hunter Ethredge from our Local Villa Rica Police Department, take time out to share his experience, knowledge, and advice to keep our team as safe as possible on the roads. Our crews and field supervisors travel more than 1 million miles a year and we want to make sure that each of those miles are driven safely. We wanted to say thank you to Sgt. Ethredge and the Villa Rica Police Department for their time and continued support.

Carroll County Fire also came out to teach our office and field training in the proper operation of extinguishers and fire safety in general. Being in the paint industry, we are surrounded by flammable materials and it is critical that our team know exactly what to do in the case of a fire. Team members received hands on experience putting out a test fire ( safely controlled by CCFD ). Fire Fighter Daniel Norton also took the time to properly train our team on basic first aid. He covered a variety of subjects from burns and cuts to ice packs and proper wound dressing. We sincerely appreciate the entire team from Carroll County Fire for their continued support in the safety training program.

We would also like to thank our vendor partners Sherwin Williams, PPG, Sunbelt Rental Company and Graco.  They all took time out of their busy schedules to support our efforts in having the best trained guys in the painting industry.

Christmas Cheer to Critically Ill Children

Harrison Contracting Company has partnered with St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and Cancer Center in Tampa Florida to help spread a little Christmas cheer to critically ill children during the holiday season. St. Joseph’s has created a “Santa’s Workshop” inside their hospital auditorium for the children who are undergoing treatment for critical illness or various other serious or life threatening medical conditions. They collect new, unopened, donated toys and set them up in their workshop based on the child’s age and gender. The workshop gives children who might not otherwise have the opportunity, a chance to visit “Santa’s Workshop” with their parents and pick out Christmas gifts over the holiday weekend. By all accounts the tradition has been an overwhelming success. “These kids and their parents are going through some tough time times, and helping put a smile on a child’s face during Christmas time is really what it’s all about….we couldn’t do it without the help of our community partners, and a great team of devoted volunteers…we really can’t thank you enough” said one St. Joes volunteer coordinator.

In addition, Harrison partnered with volunteers from Gulfside Hospice in Pasco County, FL and was able to provide toys for several families in need with foster children. Harrison, who has offices in Atlanta, Destin, and Tampa has a long history of giving back to the community. We are more than proud to carry on that tradition in our Tampa Division by helping support such worthwhile endeavors.

What is Re-Imaging?

Re-Image RepaintRe-imaging can be described as the re-brand or update to the current brand of a company’s building. This can be interior or exterior, or both. It can be as simple as a repaint to bring the curb appeal and appearance of your property to a new condition, or as in depth as a full remodel with graphics, millwork, etc.

HCC specializes in the painting side of re-imaging . This process does not require a program management firm or general contractor. We have spent the last two decades developing the logistics to manage these programs for you. From data collection and surveys to schedule implementation and cyclical programs, we can tailor a system to fit your needs to enhance the appearance and improve the customer experience in your buildings.  Call us today to learn more, or email cmurphy@harrisoncontracting.com for details.

Painting services are frequently looked at as a maintenance expense, only addressed when someone notices the condition of the space. The problem with that approach is that by once someone notices that a space needs painting, multiple customers have already seen this condition and formed an opinion about your image. Face it, your team is selling merchandise and that is their focus . All too often, the walls of the building are just not the most important thing to them. That’s where a program comes in. Through cyclical painting on all properties, you are guaranteed to have a standardized image clean, and impressive to your end clients.

And for national Re-Branding initiatives, the scope of work can be daunting to most. Harrison Contracting Company has dozens of examples of completing  hundreds of major retail locations in record time. Ask for details and watch how we achieve the impossible for you. You can view some of our past projects in our portfolio.
