Harrison Contracting Company has partnered with St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and Cancer Center in Tampa Florida to help spread a little Christmas cheer to critically ill children during the holiday season. St. Joseph’s has created a “Santa’s Workshop” inside their hospital auditorium for the children who are undergoing treatment for critical illness or various other serious or life threatening medical conditions. They collect new, unopened, donated toys and set them up in their workshop based on the child’s age and gender. The workshop gives children who might not otherwise have the opportunity, a chance to visit “Santa’s Workshop” with their parents and pick out Christmas gifts over the holiday weekend. By all accounts the tradition has been an overwhelming success. “These kids and their parents are going through some tough time times, and helping put a smile on a child’s face during Christmas time is really what it’s all about….we couldn’t do it without the help of our community partners, and a great team of devoted volunteers…we really can’t thank you enough” said one St. Joes volunteer coordinator.
In addition, Harrison partnered with volunteers from Gulfside Hospice in Pasco County, FL and was able to provide toys for several families in need with foster children. Harrison, who has offices in Atlanta, Destin, and Tampa has a long history of giving back to the community. We are more than proud to carry on that tradition in our Tampa Division by helping support such worthwhile endeavors.
